Referee Promotions

The Association is delighted to announce the promotion of Andy Milne, Ryan Milne and Calum Spence to Category 3.

All three will now be eligible to referee in the Scottish Highland Football League and act as Assistant Referees in the Scottish League, as well as refereeing in Junior football.

Followers of Junior football in the area will welcome six new referees to the ranks for season 2011/12.

Anthony Cooper, Wayne Cusiter, Graeme Jack, Derek Leith, Scott McIntyre and Mark Stewart have been appointed to the Category 4 List, enabling them to officiate in the NRSJFA.

These promotions have seen the number of referees on the senior list of officials for Aberdeen & District rise to an impressive 32; which is, by far, the largest representation this Association has had for many years.

Commenting on the promotions, Association Manager for SFAR – Aberdeen & District, Sandy Roy, said

“These promotions, once again, highlight the opportunities available to referees with ability and who show the right commitment, talent and enthusiasm for progression, and are prepared to listen and take on board the advice given by the Referee Development Advisers. Hopefully, others will follow their lead and challenge for similar opportunities in the future”.

Craig Appointed an SFA Referee Observer

The Association is delighted to announce that at the recent Referee Committee meeting, Craig Mackay has been appointed as an SFA Referee Observer.

Craig retired as a Category 1 referee from the List of Senior Referees in January 2010 due to injury, but continued to support the Association as a Minor Grades Development Adviser.

As a Senior referee, Craig was a great ambassador of the Association; both on and off the field, and contributed greatly to the Association. As well as a Senior referee, he held the post of Association Secretary for eight years. In recognition of his services, Craig was recently awarded Life Membership of the Association.
